We are pleased to announce the release of LensKit 0.8. As always, release
notes are here: http://lenskit.grouplens.org/release-notes.html
The major new thing in this release is the new evaluator framework. We have
eliminated the Ant plugin and now provide a command-line evaluator tool that
uses an XML evaluator definition to run evaluations. This makes evaluations
easier to run, and paves the way for supporting more evaluation types in the
future (the new evaluator has some nice abstractions that will make future
evaluators much easier to write an particularly run).
We have also added demonstration evaluations using the ML-100K data set in
the lenskit-eval-demo module in the source tree. These invoke the evaluator
main class directly; we plan to eventually provide a Maven plugin to manage
running evaluations from within Maven as a convenience (although the command
line will still be available).
Enjoy!
